Had a Chow Gar SPM lesson last night in lovely weather for a change. Because of this did some staff (gwan) work consisting of some 2 man staff drills and going through 2 staff forms namely Ng Hung Gwan (5 Element Pole) and Dook Sair Gwan (Poison Snake Pole). The main thing I realised is that I definitely need to practice my staff work a lot more, Planning on getting some more stick work in at some point. You sure can get rusty if you don't practice.
It was then time to go through the Sarm Sup Luk Lin Jer See or the 36 Section 2 Man fighting form to you and me. I know this on the attacking side so i am learning the other side and boy does it need work!
Finally was introduced the the form Say Bun Gen Sau.
The thing I like most about the SPM training is that no matter what drill you are doing you are always getting hit. This not only helps condition your body but also gets you used to the sensation of being hit and how to react to this.
I am not very good but I'm still going to train hard.
Kung Fu loosely translated means hard work.
